Kim’s pulled together three of her best research tools in this must-have program. They take you through 3 of her most essential steps of her Research Beast process.
It starts with getting inside your prospect or avatar's head so you can deeply experience what it's like to deal with the problem or pain point your product or service solves for them. But it goes beyond developing empathy for your prospect.
Kim's Research Beast process gives you a technique she's personally used and teach her copywriting mentees called "The Prism Exercise".
By completing this exercise, you'll develop a vivid picture of your target prospect or avatar's greatest hopes, wishes, fears, and frustrations... and be able to tap into both their emotional side as well as their logical mind with your sales copy.
Next, Kim shows you how to roll up your sleeves and REALLY dig deep into what's special or unique about your product. You'll go beyond the usual "two-step" features and benefits exercise to using a 5-step features and benefits exercise.
These 3 extra steps give you far more insights, proof points, and copy fodder you can use later on to convince your prospect to buy -- both intellectually and emotionally. It can also help you zero in on the unique selling proposition (USP) or mechanism that differentiates your product or service.
Then comes the final step: creating your copy platform and outline. You'll already have a lot of copy you've come up with as a result of doing the first two exercises. So you won't be staring at the computer screen, unable to get started... or gripped with anxiety about "getting behind schedule" because you keep putting things off.
Instead, you'll start filling in all the blanks in your copy outline "blueprint"... starting with those tons of copy points and research "nuggets" you've already come up with. And you'll have a roadmap for everything else you need to write from there.
Sure, you may want to dig a bit deeper into something else you discover as you write your promo--it's an organic process. But you won't be stuck spinning your wheels like a Mini Cooper in a snowdrift, helplessly surfing the web and panicking all at once.

The PRISM exercise for getting crystal-clear on the avatar for your product or service. You get the exercise template plus several examples you can refer to as you further define your target prospect. This is where you go beyond surface-level emotions to identify the core motivators that will ultimately drive your prospect to take action.
The 5-Step Features & Benefits exercise for digging out what's special about your product or service and tying it back to your prospect's dominant emotions. Going through this exercise not only helps you go beyond the usual "benefits" to identifying the key drivers for what motivates your prospect, it often generates sales copy you can use in your ad or promo.
Creating Copy Platforms -- Where it all starts to come together and you come up with your best "big ideas". You can use this Copy Platform template to summarize them, plus create an outline or "blueprint" for your promo that will allow you to produce stronger copy far faster.
These slides and video are of a workshop where provide an overview of my six-step Research Beast process that makes your copy "dangerously good".
At the end of the presentation (which lasts approximately 30 minutes), there's also a Q&A where I answer some of the attendees' questions.
Watching this presentation and reviewing the slides are a great place to start before you start using the tools provided here.
In the Ultimate A-List Copywriter's Promo Checklist -- which is actually 5 checklists in one -- you'll get the following Research Beast checklists:
14 “start kit” items to ask your client before you’re scheduled to begin your project so you get the maximum research insights
21 things you should find out about your avatar before you start writing PLUS 23 questions to ask your client about your product and offer in your project kick-off call (some could end up triggering a killer headline or “big idea”!)
The PRISM exercise for getting crystal-clear on the avatar for your product or service. Highly recommended you do this exercise two ones: one using surveys, forums, reviews, and first-hand knowledge of the target customer; the second using AI. You'll get two very different outputs, both of which will be valuable to you.
Here you'll find the 5-Step Features & Benefits exercise for digging out what's special about your product or service and tying it back to your prospect's dominant emotions. Plus you get several examples to learn from. It go far beyond the typical "features and benefits" analysis to determine what's really unique and powerful about your product... and how it truly impacts your prospect's life and addresses their most important wants and needs. What's more, this exercise, along with the PRISM exercise, can end up producing sales copy you can apply to your promo later.
This is where your research starts to come together and you come up with your best "big ideas". For each possibly copy platform, you can use the previous exercises to create descriptor copy and possible headlines. From there you can use the outline format and examples to visualize the structure and order of your promo, like visualizing art on a blank canvas. Once you complete this step, you've created the foundation for a much stronger ad or promo, making the copy easier and faster to write.
